🧼Monday 13th October🧼Strictly Come Dancing Update
Well it was all drama on the dancefloor this weekend!
Poorly soap start Stefan didn't dance this week as doctors told him to rest so he and Dianne automatically go through to next week. I missed them dancing actually and hope the dance they were going to do for movie week they can do this weekend if Stefan is well enough to perform. But I bet we wont get to see that dance which was going to a waltz to, 'It Is You (I Have Loved)' from Shrek.
Fingers crossed he is well enough to return- should find out on It Takes Two this week. I saw Dianne with her strictly co stars upstairs on Saturday so guessing she wasn't ill. I don't think she was in the group routines though.
We had the first 10 score for the series which is amazing for only week 3!
Lewis & Katya got a 10 from Motsi for their Paso Doble to song 'The Plazma To Exacution' from the movie The Mask Of Zorro, which was very good and although Lewis is very good , he's getting a lot of backlash because of his dancing experience in west end show Billy Elliot when he was about 12 years old. He is an actor mainly. He has some experience as does Amber the ex Love Island star as she sings and dances on stage or has done and has diploma in musical theatre, Danceworld Stage School and attended Urdang Academy as a teenager!
But I don't think that covered Ballroom dancing but could be wrong. But let's think about it-All the actors have acting experience and musicians have experience with music, singing and probably dancing. The comedians have experience of being on stage, being funny and negativity from crowd and judges etc. Athletes have experience of competing, being fit, scoring, performing to a certain extent.
Also let's remember Amber & Lewis are only in Strictly at short notice because some of the other contestants had to pull out of the competition so obviously there could be celebrities on standby who do have some dancing experience!
I get why people are annoyed but its not the celebrities fault and maybe they want to improve what they learnt years ago and learn new dancing skills and also the training they did have probably didn't include certain styles of dance.
It was lovely to have 'Wicked' star Cynthia Erivo mentored the couples in training and gave her views on each dance and the celebrity and pro but she didn't score anyone which I think worked well.
My top 5 -La Voix & Aljaz Waltz to 'Feed The Birds' (Tuppence A Bag) from Mary Poppins. Ellie & Vito were amazing doing a samba to the Barbie film song 'Dance The Night Away' by Dua lipa. Ellie just went for it and you could see how much she enjoyed it and the judges said she's the most improved this week-so in sync with Vito. I thought Karen did really well too. My other fave's were Vicky & Kai, Harry & Karen, Alex & Joannes.
Alex's characterization was brilliant as the battleaxe boss Miranda from the film The Devil Wears Prada as she stayed in her fierce character all the way through and even for a bit with Tess and the judges lol
I did like all the other dances ut can't vote for everyone lol I choose not to vote for Lewis, Amber or Balvinder as I assumed they would be ok especially Lewis & Amber as they seemed to be getting through anyway which they did. I didn't vote for Balvinder this week though but she ended in the bottom two so maybe i'll vote for her next wek depending on go she does. I think she struggled to live up to her fantasic Chareston the week before ( I did vote for her then lol)
Ross & Jowita were in the dance off with Balvinder & Julian.
Shirley had the casting vote if needed, this week, but she didn't need to vote as all the other judges chose to save Balvinda & Julian which was the right decision as lovely Ross was the weakest dancer between him and Balvinder and in the competition really which he and Jowita knew. Poor Ross expected to be eliminated first but he wasn't and I think that's lovely. He was so gracious of everyone at Strictly and for all his support from the public, his family friends and the tv shows he works on.
