🧼Monday 18th August🧼Brookside returns for the Hollyoaks 30th Anniversary!!

I'm so excited to announce on my soap blog that the old Liverpudlian soap Brookside which ran from 1982-2003 is returning!!! It was created and written by Hollyoaks & Grange Hill creator Sir Phil Redmond. Hollyoaks have quite a few Brookie actors in the soap like Alex Fletcher who played Jacqui Dixon, plays Diane Hutchinson. Also Louis Emerick who played Mick Johnson in Brookside now plays Detective Donny Clark in Hollyoaks. Actor Michael Starke (Sinbad in Brookside) made a few appearances in Hollyoaks as taxi driver called Benny.

There is going to be a special crossover episode of the two soaps to celebrate Hollyoaks 30th Anniversary, It will feature the return of many Brookside characters!!! I'm wondering and hoping actress Anna Friel who played Beth Jordache (kickstarted the actresses acting career) will come back or Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson who played Sheila Grant/Corkhill Grant and Bobby Grant would be good -fingers crossed🤞🏻

The episode will be written by one of the Hollyoaks writers who did start his writing career for Brookside. He will honour creator of both soaps Sir Phil Redmond which i think is so important. Phil Redmond said “It is always bittersweet thinking back to Brookie, the reminders of its success and impact, but the thoughts of many, like Dean Sullivan and Bill Dean, who are no longer with us. But it is great that Lime Pictures are paying homage in their Hollyoaks anniversary crossover episodes."

Hollyoaks executive producer Hannah Cheers said " This episode is a love letter to both Hollyoaks and Brookside."

Filming will happen in September with permission granted by the owner of 'Brookside Close' and the Liverpool Film Office, as the old set in West Derbyshire is now home to ordinary residents. The special crossover episode will be shown sometime in October on E4!!
