Ex Emmerdale actress Glenda Mckay who played Rachel Hughes (Joe Tate's late mother) took a step away from acting when she left Emmerdale in 1999 when her character was killed off. But she's going to appear in the other ITV soap Coronation Street as social worker Alison Hale who will work with foster carers Sally and Tim Metcalfe who are currently caring for the Michaealis children Brody, Joanie and Shanice. Glenda appears on screen sometime next month I believe.
